Care First Recruitment Ltd are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner to join our Intervention & Planning Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled practitioner who is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
As a senior member of the team, you will manage complex cases, provide professional leadership, and support colleagues through mentoring, coaching, and practice development. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality assessments, planning, interventions, and decision-making that safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
About the Role
The Intervention & Planning Team works with children and families where there are significant safeguarding concerns, children in need, child protection plans, care proceedings, and children who require permanence planning.
As a Senior Social Worker / Advanced Practitioner, you will:
- Hold and manage a complex caseload involving children in need, child protection, pre-proceedings, and court work.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop effective child-centred plans.
- Lead on complex safeguarding interventions and risk management.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and less experienced practitioners.
- Support practice improvement through mentoring, coaching, and reflective supervision.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and service development initiatives.
- Build effective partnerships with families, partner agencies, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Prepare high-quality reports for conferences, court proceedings, and statutory reviews.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and local policies.
About You
We are looking for a qualified and experienced social worker who demonstrates excellent professional judgement, leadership skills, and a commitment to outstanding practice.
Essential Requirements
- Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Registration with the relevant professional regulator (e.g., Social Work England).
- Significant post-qualification experience within children’s social care.
- Experience of managing complex safeguarding and child protection cases.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including:
- Children Act 1989 and 2004
- Working Together to Safeguard Children
- Care Planning Regulations
- Public Law Outline (PLO)
- Experience of court work and permanency planning.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to provide professional support, mentoring, and leadership to colleagues.
- Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
Desirable Requirements
- Practice Educator Award or equivalent.
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervising social workers.
- Evidence of contributing to service improvement and practice development.
- Additional safeguarding or specialist practice qualifications.
