About the Role
The Council are seeking an experienced Repairs Supervisor (PO2) to oversee a high-performing team of repairs operatives delivering responsive and planned maintenance services across the borough’s social housing stock.
The successful candidate will ensure high standards of workmanship, efficient use of materials, compliance with health and safety legislation, and excellent customer service outcomes for residents.
A van and fuel will be provided by the Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of multi-skilled repairs operatives
- Coordinate and manage complex, multi-trade repair projects affecting multiple properties (e.g. major leaks)
- Undertake complex diagnostics across carpentry, plumbing, decorating, plastering, and tiling
- Carry out pre- and post-inspections on tenanted properties
- Manage void properties to ensure works are completed within agreed timescales
- Deliver toolbox talks and one-to-one performance discussions with operatives
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements
- Attend evening Temporary Accommodation (TA) meetings as required
- Respond effectively to internal and external customer needs
- Maintain accurate records using handheld technology
Essential Requirements
Candidates must have extensive experience within social housing and a trade background.
You must also demonstrate:
- Ability to converse fluently and professionally in spoken English with members of the public
- Strong understanding of building regulations and compliance
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- In-depth knowledge of construction site operations
- Proven experience leading and motivating teams of trade operatives
- Working knowledge of statutory health & safety legislation
- Experience carrying out supervisory quality control post-inspections
- Confidence using IT systems and handheld devices

- Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rota (365 days a year)
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend meetings
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet service and emergency response needs
- Enhanced DBS check required
